About Krista
At a young age, I fell in love with learning the language of music. I began learning to play the piano at age four and it has been a lifelong passion of mine ever since. With a musical training background in classical piano, and a passion for working with children, I set out on a career path in music education with the desire to inspire others to embrace music too.
With an openness to innovation of the traditional and an incessant curiosity for what is possible, I have spent my teaching career learning and discovering a plethora of methods and approaches to teaching so that all students can maximize their potential and fulfill their musical goals. In my ten years of teaching thousands of students in NYC public schools and private lessons, I have found much success in using a holistic approach to teaching music with an emphasis on empowerment, creativity, and joy while equally placing priority on focused discipline and the tried and true.
I believe that everyone is musical and everyone is an artist. Creativity is a skill that all people possess, and in exercising it, can find benefits not only in music but in all aspects of life. It is my greatest joy to guide my students on their unique musical journey, helping them to create music in a way that personally fulfills their musical needs and desires.
